Acrobatic arts is a stepping stool to Acro dance, which is an art form that incorporates both fluid and graceful movements of dance and the difficult tricks of acrobatics. . Acro skills combined with dance technique brings an athletic character and unique choreography which when fused together creates an impressive form of dance. It blends musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acro movements in a dance context. It has gained popularity with drill teams, local studios and competitive dance teams here in Utah. Those that execute skills learned in Acrobatic arts are stronger, more flexible, have better balance and have more impressive tricks in their dances. There is so much to gain from training with Acro.
Acro’s roots are in traditional Chinese dance and later appeared on the Vaudeville stage. Acro has also gained popularity with the success of Cirque Du Soleil and popular shows like “So you think you can dance” “Americas dance crew” and Dance moms. It has further gained popularity in amateur competitive dance and studio settings. The Acrobatic arts program we use is a tried and true certified program. Our students are being taught by trained and certified teacher who will help them to gain skills with care and safety.
Acro is an especially challenging style for dancers to master as training in both dance and acrobatic elements is required. Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling, and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength. That being said it is also so much fun! Acro training is very rewarding as you move through all the levels. Getting a gold start is very satisfying and working hard at something give our students a lot of satisfaction.
Acrobatic Arts has 12 levels to pass off. Each level has certain skills to master before you can move on to the next level. There are acro cards with skills on them that need to be passed off each month in class in order to move to the next level. It is very rewarding and a fun challenge to master a skill and get a gold start. I am sure this is why our student thrive in this program.
